  • Two films that Eric did sound editing / mixing for have been nominated for 2011 Academy Awards!  Check out Gasland and Poster Girl, both amazing HBO documentaries worth watching.
  • Eric and team were nominated for an 2010 Emmy Award in the category "Outstanding Achievement in a Craft: Music and Sound" for work on the documentary "In A Dream".  In A Dream was also nominated for a Best Documentary Emmy!
  • Eric is psyched to be doing the Dialog Editing and ADR supervision for the offbeat comedy "Salvation Boulevard" starring Jennifer Connelly, Pierce Brosnan, Ed Harris, Marisa Tomei, Greg Kinnear and Jim Gaffigan.

  • Mixing and editing a lovely doc about an artist living in the Chelsea Hotel this month called Girl With Black Balloon.  Will be featured in the Edinborough Film Festival in June!
  • Watch GASLAND on HBO June 21st!  Amazing doc about an average renegade's journey across the US in search of answers to questions about what oil and gas companies are doing to our water supply.
  • Also coming up on HBO is POSTER GIRL.  Amazing doc about a girl's experiences after returning from the Iraq war.
  • Eric was selected to be the narrator for a powerful and important documentary about human rights violations in Cambodia called "Who Killed Chea Vichea?".  He is excited and honored to be a part.
  • Eric is working on a emotionally intense but ultimately heartwarming documentary called "The Canal Street Madam" about a woman who ran an infamous brothel in New Orleans with her mother and daughter.
  • Eric is very honored and excited to be working as the supervising sound editor on "Night Catches Us" which has been selected to be in competition at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.  Learn more about the film here.
  • A new documentary film about veganism will be out next year and Eric will be doing the sound design.  The film is called "Glass Walls" and is directed by Marisa Miller Wolfson. It follows three folks selected to give the new lifestyle a try for 6 weeks.  Eric has been a vegan for nearly a year now and is looking forward to helping spread the love!  For more info about veganism you can go to Marisa's online vegan mentoring program Vegan At Heart.
  • Eric is thrilled to be working on some exciting projects including an incredible documentary that spans the globe in its coverage of "Cultures of Resistance", a flim about the broken love affair between two former Black Panther members as told through the eyes of an adolescent girl called "Night Catches Us", and also giving tech support (woohoo!) to a new U2 concert DVD (Live at the Rose Bowl) whose post-production is being done at Gigantic Studios.
  • Eric will be recording some exciting ADR with the likes of Hillary Duff, Peter Dinklage, Rosie Perez, Liev Schreiber, Richard Dreyfus, and Steve Earle on various projects at Gigantic Studios!
  • Eric is very excited to begin work on the hilarious comedy "The Best and the Brightest" about the travails of getting your kinder into the most prestigious kindergardens in Manhattan.  Starring Neil Patrick Harris, Bonnie Somerville and Amy Sedaris among others.
  • Eric just finished dialogue editing and ADR work on the excellent film "Holy Rollers" about hasidic kids who get caught up on the wrong side of the hammentashen (dealin' drugs).  Starring the same star combo of the hit "Zombieland" Jessie Eisenberg and Justin Bartha.
  • Eric is working on a doc that he knows his dad is gonna love about the street games that were popular in NYC during the 50s 60s and 70s (stick ball, ringalivio, johnny on the pony, slap ball, etc).  Local stars like Ray Romano, Whoopi Goldberg and Regis chime in.  Its called NY Street Games
  • Eric will begin work on a film about Hasidic teens who stray toward the wrong side of the tracks in "Holy Rollers" with Jesse Eisenberg.
  • Eric is thrilled to be working on his 2nd documentary about the female orgasm, "Orgasm, Inc."  (The first was "Orgasmic Birth").
  • Eric is recording ADR for some exciting projects at Gigantic Studios incuding "The Good Heart" with Paul Dano and Brian Cox, and "Georgia O'Keeffe" with Tyne Daly, Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen directed by Bob Balaban.
  • Eric is working on an amazing documentary about the production of food in America called "Fresh".  The film shows the inspiring things that are possible in terms of saving the environment, promoting our nation's health and ending cruelty to livestock when we are able to sidestep the currently entrenched ways of the industrial status quo.  Eric couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of it.
  • Eric is currrently the supervising sound editor on a film called "Happy Tears" starring Demi Moore, Parker Posey, Rip Torn and Ellen Barkin.
  • Eric did sound design for the documentary "The Greatest Tunnel Ever Built".  Its a sister project of the series called "Sandhogs" currently airing on the History channel.  The film will air on Nov. 15th at 10pm.
  • Eric did foley artistry for the film "Medal of Honor".  The medal of honor is the highest honor the us military bestows.  Amazing stories of war valor told by the veterans themselves.  Airs nationwide November 5th on PBS.
  • Eric's latest song "Forget the World" can be heard here on myspace.
  • Eric did sound design and foley artistry on "Os Desafinados", or "Out of Tune".  This film will be playing at the "Premiere Brazil 2008" Film festival on July 8th and 27th at MoMa.  It was the only film at the festival to recieve a "recommended" asterix in Time Out NY.
  • Eric is working on sound design for a documentary for the History Channel about NYC's tougher than nails "Sandhogs".  The Sandhogs are a group of underground tunnel workers upon whom our fine city depends.  Eric recently recorded narration for the film with actor Edward Burns, whose grandfather was a Sandhog himself.
  • A great shot of the back of Eric's head as he records Ed Burns doing voiceover for "Sandhogs".  This was the inaugural session at the kick assed new Gigantic Studios in Chelsea.

  • Watch "loudQUIETloud: A Film About The Pixies" on The Sundance Channel this month.  Looooove this film, and you will love it too, especially if you like the pixies.  I did some sound design work on it.  Airs Wednesday May 28th at 10am and again on Friday July 4th at 10pm.   • "In a Dream" recently won the "Emerging Visions" audience award at the SXSW festival!  Congratulations!!!  Here is an excerpt from a review: "As a story about art and artists, In a Dream is soft-spoken, well-paced, and smoothly engrossing. As a portrait of a sweet but slightly fractured man, it's one of the most unexpectedly touching documentaries I've ever seen. Special kudos to son / filmmaker Jeremiah Zagar for...delivering a low budget documentary that somehow looks and sounds like a million bucks."  Ok, yes emphasis added by me.  Read the full review here.
  • In July, Eric will be working on the PBS series "e2".  e2 is a series "about the economies of being enviromentally conscious".  This is an exciting series that covers many of the enviromental crises that we now face.  Directed by Tad Fettig with narration by Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt.
 
  • Eric is currently working on the foley and dialog editing for the film "Hounddog" with Dakota Fanning and Robin Wright Penn.  The film, which premiered at Sundance last year, will have a theater run in the near future...
  • Eric did sound design work on an amazing documentary about the renowned Philadelphia artist Isaiah Zagar called "In a Dream". 
  • Eric will be starting work in April on "Chelsea on the Rocks".  A tribute to NYC's legendary Chelsea Hotel.
  • Eric will be playing guitar for the rock musical "The Deciders".  Thurs April 3rd at 7pm and Saturday April 5th at 9pm.  At The Triad in nyc.
  • Academy Award winning documentary "Born Into Brothels" on which Eric did the sound editing will air on the IFC channel this month.  Check IFC.com for details on Feb 5th and Feb 25th.
  • Eric recently completed sound design and mixing work on a Nike ad campaign called "Nike Women".  These are a series of 2 min "documentaries" on extraordinary women athletes from around the globe.  You can find the spots here on Nike's website.
  • Go see Ricki Lake's acclaimed documentary "The Business of Being Born".  Premiers at the IFC center in NYC on Jan 9th and plays indefinitely there. Check the website for openings across the country.  Eric did the sound design for this incredible eye-opening documentary on birthing in the U.S.  Check the link above for the trailer.
  • Watch "Son's Sacrifice" on PBS's "Independent Lens" on Tuesday Jan 22 at 10pm.  In NYC it will air at 12:30 am on Sat Jan 26th (otherwise known as Friday night).  Eric did the sound design for this Tribeca Film Fest award wining documentary about a muslim slaughterhouse.  Check the link above for a trailer.
  • Watch "Everything's Cool" this month on the Sundance Channel.  Eric did sound mixing on this important and entertaining documentary about global warming.  Check here for listings and a trailer.
  • The film "Election Day" which Eric did the sound design for is having some exciting screenings this month.  Check the webpage for details and a trailer.
  • Eric is working on sound design for the documentary "school play" about the real life drama behind a suburban 5th grade play.
  • Eric was foley supervisor on the Brazilian bossa nova feature "Os Desafinados".
  • Eric will be playing and singing with "The Decider's" at The Underscore 11pm on Fri Oct 19th.
  • Watch "Dear Talula" this month on Cinemax.  Premieres Tuesday October 9th at 7:30 pm.  Eric did sound editing on this beautiful doc about a woman's struggle to raise her daughter while dealing with breast cancer.  Watch director Lori Benson on "The View" this Wed Oct 16th!
  • Eric' is doing sound design for a new VH-1 rockDoc called "NY '77" about that volatile year in New York City.  The rise of both punk and disco, the summer of Sam, the riots, the sex, the blackouts... Check it out!
  • Eric is working on his second "Birthing" documentary in as many months (my new specialty).  This one is called "Orgasmic Birth" and is quite an eye opener.  Highly recommended.
  • Eric did sound design work with director Bob Balaban on a new animated pilot for CNBC called "CEO Dad".  Stars include Lisa Kudrow, Martin Mull and Paul Reubens.  Check out a cool behind the scenes video here.
  • The film "Rehearsing a Dream" for which Eric did the sound editing was nominated for a 2007 Academy Award in the category of Best Documentary Short Subject.
  • The documentary short "A Son's Sacrifice" that Eric did sound design work on took home the Tribeca award for 'Best Documentary Short' at this year's festival.  The film also won the Audience Award at this year's SilverDocs festival.  Congrats Yoni and Musa!
  • Eric played guitar and sang some vocals with "The Decider's" on Friday July 27th, 9pm at Don Hill's in NYC.
  • Eric worked on an amazing documentary about giving birth in the U.S.  "The Business of Being Born" follows several mothers-to-be (including Ricki Lake) and shows interviews with doctors and experts on the subject.   Reveals some stunning facts and will change the way you look at giving birth for sure.  Premiered at the Tribeca Fim Festival.
  • Eric did sound design for a heartfelt doc called "Homestretch" which just premiered at the Sonoma Valley Film Fest.  Its a wonderful piece about inmates and the meaningful bond they form by caring for racehorses who would otherwise be abandoned or killed.
  • Eric did some mixing work on the environmental exposé "Everything's Cool".  Its an amazing film sure to be in local theaters or televisions soon...
  • Eric has done sound editing work on two films that were featured at the 2007 sundance film festival.  The first, is called "Hound Dog" with Dakota Fanning and Robin Wright Penn.  The film's controversial rape scene was just profiled in the NY Times. The second, called "Year of the Fish" is a rotoscoped modern day Cinderella story with an edge, set in a "massage" parlour in Chinatown, NYC.
  • The intensely powerful Rwanda documentary "Back Home" took home a "special mention" from the Jury at the AFI film festival on Nov 12th.  LA Weekly's Ernest Hardy says "Few of the more polished films on the subject have taken us so close to the human anguish of this atrocity...Highly recommended".  Eric did the sound design for this stunner.
  • Eric has completed design and mixing work on a new documentary about the phenomenon of "Vintage Baseball"... Soon to be found on MLB.com
  • Eric is doing sound design and mixing for the new underground hit show "The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman".  On Friday's and Sunday's at 11 PM on IFC (channel 81 in NYC).  Its a comedy starring Laura Kightlinger and Nicholle Tom.  Sort of like a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" but with a female lead who is not a moron.

  • Eric is currently doing sound work on a documentary about the Homeless World Cup called "The Team".
  • Eric recently finished sound work on a short doc that will be in the Tribeca Film Festival and then on HBO called "Dear Talula".  The film follows a woman's fight with Breast Cancer.
  • Eric will be doing sound fx editing on the new Pixies documentary called loudQUIETloud: A Film About The Pixies which is debuting at the South by Southwest film festival in March.
  • "Stephanie Daley" starring Amber Tamblyn, Tilda Swinton and Timothy Hutton won the award for best screenplay at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Eric was the Foley Artist and Sound Editor on this film.
  • Eric is currently doing sound design on a documentary called "Goal Dreams" about the Palestinian national soccer team and its trials in obtaining a bid for the World Cup.
  • Eric will be next be working on a Brazilian film called "Os Desafindos" about a group of musicians who become part of the original Bossa Nova movement during the turbulent 60's and 70's in Brazil. Eric will be traveling to Brazil to work on this film.  WOOHOO!!!!
  • Eric's mentor, boss, co-worker, and all around swell guy Tom Paul just finished going on tour through South America with U2 recording interviews for their upcoming IMAX 3D concert film.  Here is a picture of TP with Bono and soccer legend Maradona.  Go TP!!!
  • "Forgiven" a film that Eric did sound editing for has gained entrance to the 2006 Sundance Festival.
  • Watch Eric (or "listen" rather) as "French Waiter" in a scene with Rob Reiner and Michael McKean in the animated IFC series "Hopeless Pictures" (Episode 9). Its in re-reuns now.  Click here for all the showtimes, and for info on how to get season 1 on DVD.
  • Eric will be performing at a concert to benefit animal rescue and musicians in New Orleans this Friday Oct 7th at Pier 63 in NYC.  click here for details.
  • Eric did sound editing work on "Methadonia" a documentary about long-time drug addicts in New York City.  The film will air on HBO Thursday, October 6th.

  • Eric's song "Alone No More" was playing on radio stations around the country this month because it was selected to be in "the limelight" on listenerstation.com.  The spot that was played on the radio can be heard by clicking here.
  • Born Into Brothels, the Oscar award winning film which Eric did sound work on will premiere on Cinemax on Tuesday, August 16th at 7pm.  Check it out.
  • Eric is working with director Bob Balaban to create episodes of "Hopeless Pictures", a television show to premiere August 19th on the IFC channel. Its an animated comedy series spoofing hollywood featuring the voices of Michael McKean, Lisa Kudrow, Martin Mull, Rob Reiner, Jennifer Coolidge, John Michael Higgins, Paul Weitz, Paul Reubens, Nora Ephron and Jonathan Katz.  This show is hilarious, please check it out.
  • Eric is doing sound work on a new Comedy Central series (Tues nights, 10:30 pm) called "Stella".  The Stella trio were featured on the cover of Time Out NY the week of june 22-29.  Stella members are also in the soon to be released summer romantic flick "The Baxter" which Eric also worked on (in theaters August 26th).
  • You can see several films that Eric has done sound work on in theaters this summer:
    •  "Palindromes" already in theaters and starting controversy.  Proclaimed "Bold and Brilliant" by Roger Ebert.
    • "The Baxter" starring members of MTV's cult comedy show "The State" and others.  An incredibly well received romantic comedy  shown at the Tribeca Festival. Will be in theaters August 12th.
    • "Born Into Brothels" winner of the 2005 Academy award for Best Documentary.
    • "Junebug" will be in theaters on Friday August 5th.  It was a selection at both the Cannes and Sundance festivals where Amy Adams won the special jury prize for acting.
  • "Born Into Brothels" won Best Documentary at the 2005 Academy Awards!  Most of the sound editing and recording tasks for this film were done in the Love Loft recording studio (aka Eric's apt).  The film is currently playing in select theaters nationwide.  Proceeds from the movie go to benefit the children's foundation.  Go see it!
  • Eric is currently doing sound editing tasks on an excellent film called "Red Doors" about dysfunctional relationships in an Asian American family.  This film will be featured in Robert Di Nero's Tribeca Film Festival this year.  The festival takes place this April and also includes two other films that Eric has worked on: The romantic love story "Satellite" and the romantic comedy, "The Baxter".
  • Eric completed sound editing tasks on a new film called "The King" that stars Gael Garcia Bernal and William Hurt among others.  The film has been selected to screen at the Cannes festival this May.
  • Eric will be performing in an encore performance of "Saddamn: The Musical" on Sunday, Dec. 5th at 7pm at Makor.  The show was a pick of the week in the NY Times and the Village voice.
  • Eric will be performing a small singing role in "Sadamn: The Musical".  The show has a 2 week run in Hell's Kitchen starting Oct 13th.  Click here for details.
  • Film critic Roger Ebert calls the film "Palindromes" "...brilliant and bold...".  Director Todd Solondz's (Happiness, Welcome to the Dollhouse) latest film will be featured at Lincoln Center's NY Film Festival on Oct 15th and 16th.  Eric feels that this is Todd's best film ever, and recommends you all get out and see it (not for the faint of heart of course).  Eric was Foley Supervisor on the film which will also be featured at the Venice and Toronto festivals later this year, and will likely be in theaters by spring '05.
  • Other film projects of Eric's include a wonderful romantic drama called Satellite, and a film based on the life of 19th century German writer Daniel Paul Schreber. Schreiber was a judge turned asylum inmate whose memoirs were a favorite read of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.
  • Eric will be working as sound editor on an excellent new romantic comedy called "The Baxter".  This movie features stars from MTV's "The State", Dawson's Creek, Spiderman 2 and many others.
  • Eric's song "Anna" has received radio airplay in Germany on the alternative radio station "Alooga".  Eric is very excited about this, and hopes to god that this will somehow lead to a tour with his childhood hero, German hearthrob David Hasselhoff.

  • The movie "The Fog of War" (which Eric's employer The Cottage Mix, Inc. did sound design for) won an academy award for best documentary.  Congrats Tom!
  • Eric's music's getting airplay at college radio station WMFO on the popular Monday afternoon show Clairnation.  So far "Anna", "Make It Right", and "We Deserve Each Other" have been the songs of choice.  Clairnation is such an awesome show too.  Come get yourself an indie rock education on this show (mixed in w/popular rock) and send your aim requests during the show to screen name wmforadio.  Listen to WMFO live on the web by clciking here. 
  • The documentary that Eric recently finished sound editing work on won one of the top awards at the Sundance festival! Woohoo!  Look for Born Into Brothels in theaters near you this fall, and on HBO in 2005.
